Grant Wood’s style of painting became known as Regionalism. This style was popular in the 20s and 30s. Regionalism got its name from the artists who painted the landscape and the people of the Midwest, especially Iowa. It depicts familiar subjects in realistic ways. American Gothic is a good example of this art movement.
